Legalities Insurance: In principle a wooden house need not cost more in insurance than a regular brick one. It is all dependent on the location and the environment in which it is to be erected. Forest areas which could fall prey to a fire would increase the premium.
Planning permission / Building licences: In accordance with all CE laws, Portugal now too excercises stricter control over the environment by regulating the building laws for all types of construction. For the erection of a wooden home, one has to firstly ascertain at the local Council whether the area in which the land finds itself, is designated for building or green area. |
